Customizing my kite quiver gives me a lot of pleasure. Additionally, my friends can easily spot me on the water so when I need a “rescuing” they are quick to come to my aid. 🙂
The Kiteboard
Early 2018
So stoked to find a solution and to discover how enjoyable the whole project has been. I really love flying Core kites, but just couldn’t get over the Black and White/no color motif. So on a joke that if I bought one, I’d be given a pink pen, I decided to go ahead and buy the best kite for my riding style and to color it. This has turned out to be a really enjoyable experience. I don’t mind letting my kite be the ink/waterproof/durability test dummy. I really love that I have custom kites. There are no limits.
What I started with were Durapro paint and Sharpie paint pens, but those seemed to peel. So I just went with colored Sharpies after seeing a super colorful pack at work. So far, the pink shades seem to have the most adherance. My favorite color, the turquoise, seems to run off when it gets wet, but I’ll play with it anyways.
I began using regular metallic craft paint and the results are gorgeous.
I am also using stencils. I don’t have art skills perse so I have to trace images I like. I’ve been on the hunt for some really cool artwork. Wish I had the skills to put my vision on the kite, but it’s ok that I am limited to stencils.
I am so happy to now have an awesome quiver of Core kites and giggling my head off as I fly them looking at my personal artwork and colors as I fly across the water.
